Northern Taiwan has a subtropical climate. Daytime temperatures in Taipei in April hover around 27°C (80°F), dropping to approximately 23°C (73°F) in the evening. Participants are advised to bring light clothing and basic rainwear.

The official currency of Taiwan is the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD), available in the following denominations:

• (coins) $1, $5, $10, $50;

• (notes) $100, $200, $500, $1000

• Shops in Taiwan do not accept traveler’s checks, so visitors holding traveler’s checks should have them converted into New Taiwan Dollars at a bank.   

The common power plug and socket in Taiwan is type A. The standard voltage is 110 V, and the standard frequency is 60 Hz.
